Podium sweep (or clean sweep) comes from the word sweep that is used in 'American' sports such as baseball, basketball and ice hockey. One speaks of a sweep when a team wins all matches of a playoff series. This is the case, for example, with a 4-0 victory in a best-of-seven series.

Overview
The term is used nowadays in a broader sense when a country, team or athlete wins all possible prizes in a certain competition, as when a team wins all available medals in a single discipline during a sporting event. At the highest level, that would be when one nation wins all the medals in the Olympics.
